Engineers Arms, Henlow
Four Photos
Monday afternoon we hopped a train to Arlesey in Bedfordshire. From here we walked to the village of Henlow on public footpaths, which
extend virtually all across England. The lovely wetlands walk to Henlow was a perfect way to spend an afternoon out of London. Many of
these walks can be found on the internet, though I also use books to find them.
Our main goal was to visit the Engineers Arms Pub, one of the finest in the county. With seven beer selections on handpull and five
ciders, we spent a pleasantly tipsy afternoon. We tried all the beer and three ciders, including a perry. The pub was empty when we
came in, but a few locals soon arrived. The local CAMRA representative, Cliff, came over and sat with us, and we talked pubs and beer
for a jolly hour or two. On our way out, Cliff pointed us down the road to the Crown, and we headed there to sample their beverages.
You were right, Cliff, they pour a lovely pint of Adnams down there! Great food, too.
Cheers! Some of you received this photo in an e-mail from the pub. Deb had made her first wi fi connection! What did they have to drink?
Check out this list!
The beer always changes. Come back each week for a different set of real ales! We tried everything they had!
