London Loop, River Darent
Three Photos
Deb takes care of a blister in its early stages, while our path continues along theThames towards the River Darent, which feeds it from
the south. The wind was blowing a small gale. The tide was still low.
Following the River Darent at low tide. Fresh water was still flowing in the stream. The river flows gently across 21 miles of southeast
England, passing towns and villages. Of course there is a walking trail that follows it all of the way.
Lunch is being served along the River Cray, which flowed into the Darent at this point. This was Tuesday, and we had the trail mostly
to ourselves. The wind made us keep jackets on and zipped up, but the actual air temp was quite mild. Despite passing through some
Detroit-style industrial areas and scrap yards, the walk was often pleasant and somewhat remote.
