Made it! View back towards Ink Pen and Kintbury. The Swan is the thin white slash in upper left, near the edge of photo.
Atop the hill was a long barrow (burial mound) dating from 3500 BC, as well as England's largest prehistoric hill fort (earthworks 700m
in diameter). There was also the cheerful sight of a gibbet, which could be seen from some distance down below. We began our descent
as shadows started to lengthen. We still had many miles to go before reaching Kintbury Station.
